Does anybody know how to remove stickers from car paint?

 Recently I put a sticker on my trunk which should have been on my windows. There is now no difficulty getting off the subject at hand. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions to gettting the sticker off without fetching the paint off?

 Try soaked with water (I'm assuming this is a normal sticker, not vinyl) or if it is vinyl, try to get a fraction dry and heat the area and he took off in using goo-gone or rubbing alcohol to get rid off the remaining residue.
