I have built in cupboards in my room: 3.5 m square with a depth of 2 1 / 2 feet - height of (3) a shelf-ft.
Use Bolt Zip Big Bags or those vinyl zippered sleeping bags that just sort your clothes by weight ... summer and winter, and not adapted to store backward. You'll still have to sort the bags, but there was nothing to be desired.
