Shoe storage in plastic bins - bad or good?

 I long for some of these plastic containers to store the individual pairs of shoes - so we join in marriage of shoes plastic container with a lid. Is plastic storage such evil for shoes? I am concerned about putting leather shoes in a plastic container.

 Use the plastic garbage cans, but be reliable as the shoes are clean and dry before putting them in.

If they are still wet from being worn, or mud, dirt or biting them, the plastic can be used to fix the stains.
