removing wall-mounted corner shelf?

 The former owners of my ancestry to a small triangular shelf in a corner space in the kitchen. Great idea, but I wish I had about two inches higher to exaggerate usable counter space, and it is not level, so everything I put on it is in danger of slipping.

Every April, as surely as the faithful flock to church for Easter, TV cameras climb down on this corner to remind the world about the time when buildings burned, more than 50 people died and thousands were injured.

On a modern day outside Tom's, a woman known to all as Lil' Momma had had enough with the attention. She grabbed a newscaster's notebook and ran off with it.
